I am not new to speaking in conferences at public venues. Being part of a university gave me lot of options at opening up my knowledge to share with faculty, staff and students alike. Some of them are have been me teaching tech to students at various universities, speaking about experience in digital credentials and the impact it has on multiple occasions or as part of Computer Society of India which I was an active member of and hosted various college level events and worked as chief organizer.
(R)eact intro and advanced was one of the my speaking opportunities at universities other than mine, that set me up to later find passion and interest in sharing the knowledge and ways in which I found in navigating the tech space whether it is through internships, career, academia or other areas.
There certainly is a high in talking about something that you want to share about. And learning while researching to give a perfect speech is a huge benefit, maybe that's what teachers feel everyday.
Holding onto a Mic was a nerve-wrecking thing at first, but talking in groups of people with a load voice was not always my way of speaking. I was always low on voice and having a Microphone helped me talk in my own sound level while able to reach, and that's how I got out of my fear of speaking.
With 4 to 5 speaking engagements over 2 years and hopefully I wish to speak at more venues, I am applying for more conferences, during my time at the Cal Poly Pomona, I wouldbe able to get into more conferences, but after they couldn't afford international or any national conference in person expenses, I stopped applying and starting doing them independently. If you do have a conference about JavaScript, Cloud applications, AI or anything interesting that I do and can offer sponsorship or reimburse expenses I would love to know, please email me at priyathamsaichand@gmail.com. If it's in California, I can come myself at my own expense.
React App and Deployment
Workshop speakerIn March 2022, I was reached out by my colleague working in a university, they had a technical fest for a week, and with multiple tracks, they wanted someone to teach Web Development on topics which were not exactly taught as part of the coursework. Back then, (I hope not anymore) all the universities taught were Java and frameworks with it, no JavaScript frameworks were taught, full stack development was not even mentioned, with modern frameworks like Next.js and Svelte coming up, I chose react to be the topic of the two day workshop. First day to fatten up with basic html, css and JavaScript for form and other handlers. The second day to go over the main details on how to write react applications whether it is Single Page Applications (SPA) or with routing and ended with states and effects.
Winter Institute 2024
Student speaker
In Winter 2023, We have a annual winter institute for faculty and staff from Academic Innovation for Cal Poly Pomona. With topics on how to improve student experience with Innovation. With teaching and others, I don't have a lot to say, but when it comes to tech innovations I have things to say and Digital Credentials is one of the topics that the university is trying to see if it helps students learn and apply things better. I received digital badges/credentials with IBM and other certificates, with that knowledge I spoke on a panel explaining the process, the medium in which I received them. How it helped me gamify and learn more and showcase my achievements
The panel consisted of students from different backgrounds, what it meant for them to be recognized and how digital credentials and how they can use them in their carrer via LinkedIn, shared through social media or through resume The idea of implementation I have seen at different companies like IBM and Cisco certifications.

Our proposal to showcase the process that the university is performing and all the approvals that we follow. We got selected for a table talk, My then Director, Ericka Olugin and colleague Andy talked about the managerial decision while I went on and on about the technical details and integrations with California State University (CSU) wide CMS and how we integrate SSO with IT. The open source standard called OpenBadges 2.0 and how the badges are awarded to students using Badgr.
